Farinacci (1991) proposed the generic name Agerina for a Pliensbachian (Early Jurassic) foraminiferan from the Central Apennines, Italy. This name is a junior homonym of Agerina Tjernvik, 1956 and Agerina Farinacci, 1991 is replaced herein with the new generic name Agerella, which retains Professor Farinacci’s dedication to Professor D. V. Ager. Professor Farinacci was informed of the homonymy, in keeping with the Code of Ethics of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999, p. 124, Appendix A, item 3) and gave her consent for this revision.
